Making
Studio work across painting, digital processes, and pen plotting with a vintage HP 7475a. Currently exploring a ceramic-to-painting project and Notes App Paintings, working at the seams between physical and digital media where translation artifacts become the content. Alongside the studio work, building a deep research library of artist briefs: systematic studies of artists whose practices intersect with my own questions about rules, systems, and what happens at the boundary between intention and output.
Teaching
Lecturing on the Philosophy of Art at Artist Commons. Helping early- and mid-career visual artists build frameworks for their practices and the vocabulary to talk about their work from a place of intellectual grounding.
Building
Co-building Dyad with Joshua Kampa: a project about what it takes for human-AI pairs to collaborate with each other. Current work is focused on shared context, commitments, authority, evidence, boundaries, exceptions, and repair.
Reading
Søren Kierkegaard, Fear and Trembling. Jen George, The Babysitter at Rest. Benjamín Labatut. Alexander Galloway, Protocol. Working through Simondon on individuation and technical objects; new territory, coming from the Anglo-analytic tradition.
Thinking About
- How human-AI pairs collaborate with other human-AI pairs
- Protocols for shared context, commitments, authority, and repair
- Art-making and rule-following: what it means to build a practice around systematic constraint
- What happens when AI moves from individual tool to participant in shared work
